"What do you mean doing a fully DIY wedding is a bad idea? Im going to save so much money!"

Hey there, lovebirds 💍

If you’re anything like many of my couples, you’ve probably gone down the Pinterest rabbit hole and emerged thinking: “You know what? I could totally DIY this entire wedding!”

And while I fully support creative expression, budget-saving ideas, and crafty brilliance — I’m here to lovingly wave a red flag and say: maybe don’t DIY everything.

Let’s talk about why some things are better left to the pros (👋 hi, it’s me), and what parts of your wedding you cantotally take on yourself — without losing sleep, sanity, or a glue gun war.

Why You Shouldn’t DIY Everything

1. Time is not on your side

DIY projects often take way more time than you expect — especially when multiplied by 100 (looking at you, hand-lettered escort cards). And let’s be real: the month before your wedding is already full.

2. Stress levels = maxed out

Between managing RSVPs, final vendor meetings, and making sure Aunt Linda isn’t sitting next to your mom’s ex… do you really want to be hot gluing centerpieces at midnight?

3. Set-up and logistics are no joke

Who’s going to actually set up all those handmade details the morning of the wedding? (Hint: it shouldn’t be you, your mom, or your bridesmaids — they deserve to relax too!)

4. Quality control gets tricky

Sometimes what looks Pinterest-perfect on screen turns into “Pinterest fail” in real life. Vendors have experience, tools, and skills to get things right — and troubleshoot on the fly.

5. You won’t be able to enjoy the day

You deserve to be fully present — not worrying about whether the string lights stayed up or if the ice cream cart is melting.

✅ What You Can DIY (If You Want To!)

Not all DIY is a no-go! If you're crafty and have time on your hands well before the wedding, here are some great options that add a personal touch without causing chaos:

• Welcome Bags or Favors

Personalized snack packs, local goodies, or mini hangover kits are super cute and easy to prep ahead of time.

• Signage

If you have a Cricut, great handwriting, or design skills — DIYing welcome signs, bar menus, or guestbook instructions can be a fun project (just print backups just in case).

• Photo Display

Memory walls or photo boards are sentimental, affordable, and easy to assemble before the big day.

• Table Numbers or Name Cards

Keep it simple and batch these in advance. Bonus points if you make it a girls' night with wine and crafting!

• Custom Ceremony Decor

Like an aisle runner, arch fabric draping, or small florals — if it doesn’t require last-minute setup or perfection, you’re golden.

💡 My Best Advice?

Pick a few things to DIY — the ones that make you excited and add meaning. Then trust your vendor team (including me!) to handle the rest with the experience, creativity, and calm energy that comes from doing this week in and week out.

You get to be the star of the show, not the stage crew. ✨

Need help figuring out what’s realistic to DIY and what’s better outsourced? That’s what I’m here for — let’s talk it through during your planning process. I promise, it’ll save you a lot of stress and at least one burnt finger from a glue gun. 😉
